Food Union wins The Red Jackets Award for excellence in exports

Latvia’s leading milk processing company Food Union has been named one of the 25 best export brands in Latvia and has received The Red Jackets Award for excellence in exports. Furthermore, for being the first Latvian milk processing company from the Baltics to enter to Chinese market, Food Union has also received a special award for its contribution in promoting Latvian exports.

«The driving force of Latvia’s economic growth is and will continue to be exports. A successful exporter is a creative entrepreneur with a good business idea, who has a carefully developed business plan, ambitious goal and the ability to achieve these goals,» Economy Ministry State Secretary Ringolds Beinarovičs points out.

The Red Jackets movement has initiated a study of more than 1,300 of Latvia’s top exporting companies. The 100 best export brands were selected, out of which 25 were nominated for The Red Jackets as the most successful exporters.

In 2015, The Red Jackets title and the symbolic red jacket was granted to the Rīgas piena kombināts dairy company (Food Union Group), ABLV Bank, the wind tunnel manufacturers Aerodium Technologies, wood pallet producers Baltic Block, the egg producers Balticovo, BTA, furniture producer Daiļrade Koks, IT company DPA, the producer of unreflective glass coating Groglass, fish processing company Karavela, heating technology producer Komfort, peat product producers Latflora, Latfood, Lattelecom Technology, textile producer Mežroze, electronic communication systems producer Mikrotīkls, recyclable materials processing company Nordic Plast, artificial fertilizer producer NPK Expert, pharmaceuticals manufacturer Olainfarm, packaging producer Polipaks, poultry producer Putnu Fabrika Ķekava, Riga Stradins University, charter flight company Smartlynx Airlines, wood processing company Staļi, as well as wood furniture manufacturer Wenden Furniture.

«Putting on the red jacket means to dare to be different, while at the same time being bright and visible. With these jackets, we wish to encourage companies to carry their brands and Latvia’s good name around the world,» said Inese Andersone, movement The Red Jackets initiator, and the head of the company GatewayBaltic. The red jackets themselves are windbreakers designed by the Latvian fashion designer Agnese Narņicka – suitable for Latvia’s weather conditions.
