Food Union invests eur 190,000 to add 10 new products to its ice cream range
09.06.2017
At the start of the 2017 summer season, Latvia’s leading dairy company Food Union, which is also the leading ice cream maker in the Baltics, has added 10 new products to its ice cream range. These include three gourmet ice creams Ekselence, five unique curd ice creams Kārums, one new addition to the legendary Pols line and one new Klasika traditional ice cream. A total of approximately EUR 190,000 has been invested in the development and launch of the new products.
“Just like in the fashion industry, every year there are new trends and developments in our industry too. Over the past several years, we have started to make a lot of different, original ice creams, but this year our emphasis is on interpretations of traditional flavors and on not-so-usual shapes and textures. Expanding the current ice cream range is also very important to us. For instance, this year we have been thinking a lot about improving the crispiness of wafer cones – and we have succeeded. We believe that every person who likes ice cream will find a new favorite among this season’s novelties. But at the same time, we wish to emphasize that we are still making ice cream from the best-quality milk and cream available in Latvia – in that regard, nothing has changed,” says Sandra Usačeva, Manager of Food Union Ice Cream Brands.
Three new ice creams have been added to the Ekselence line this season. Those who prefer classic ice cream bars will love the very creamy Ekselence vanilla ice cream with delicate coating of milk chocolate or almond milk chocolate. If you happen to like traditional Latvian cuisine, you should definitely try Ekselence Riga Black Balsam Currant ice cream in the large wafer cone. The Ekselence line currently includes a total of 22 different ice creams.
One of the most anticipated novelties this year is the unique curd ice cream Kārums with a very special, mildly sour flavor – meant for those who do not like sweets too much. The sourness comes from quality curd that 40% of the ice cream consists of. The new ice cream is available in five varieties: two kinds of classic Kārums vanilla ice cream bars with chocolate or caramel coating, two kinds of curd ice cream with vanilla flavor and raspberry sauce, available in large (750 ml) family packaging, and one Kārums multipack. For the first time, Kārums curd ice cream with vanilla flavor is available in a set of 6 mini portions or 45 ml ice creams.
Pols, the favorite ice cream for many people since their childhood, will surprise the fans this summer with a new chocolate ice cream with dark chocolate chunks, filled in crispy wafer cones.
Finally, the traditional ice cream brand Klasika will introduce caramel ice cream in wafer cones, with caramel sauce and caramel-nut coating. All Klasika ice creams now come in new, improved and especially crispy wafer cones.
The new Ekselence, Pols, Kārums and Klasika ice creams are already available at the Rimi, Maxima, Narvessen, Statoil, Sky chain stores, as well as smaller stores across Latvia.
